What Does it Take To Build for the AI Era?

September 1, 2026 | 2 min read

At Converge 2026, we’re bringing together leaders across technology, research and industry to tackle the questions shaping how AI gets built, scaled and put to work.

As companies move AI out of chat windows and experiments and into software development, commerce, supply chains, physical spaces and everyday operations, the technical questions get harder. What infrastructure is needed to make AI work reliably at scale? How can AI help engineers build, test and ship software faster, without sacrificing quality? How do we build trust into increasingly capable AI systems?

Those are the questions attendees will dig into at Converge 2026, Walmart Global Tech’s flagship technology conference, returning to Bengaluru on September 30.

Leaders from Walmart will be joined by voices from across technology, retail, manufacturing and academia to unpack the choices behind foundation models and AI platforms, the economics of AI-assisted development, the future of AI-native commerce, Physical AI, Responsible AI and the evolving relationship between people and intelligent systems.

Retail makes for an especially interesting lens because the technology has to work across both digital and physical systems. At Converge, attendees will hear how leaders are thinking about AI across everything from product discovery and fulfillment to engineering productivity, autonomous systems and enterprise security. And they’ll learn how lessons from retail can translate to other industries.

The goal isn’t simply to showcase what AI can do. It’s to get closer to the people making the decisions behind it, understand the tradeoffs they’re navigating and leave with a clearer view of what it takes to move from possibility to practical impact.

A few sessions you won’t want to miss:

  • AI-Native Commerce at Scale

Leaders from Flipkart, Myntra and Walmart Global Tech explore how AI is reshaping discovery, personalization and fulfillment, as well as what it takes to make those experiences work across millions of customers and products.

  • The Unit Economics of Intelligence

NVIDIA and Walmart International dig into the economics behind AI, from infrastructure investment and developer productivity to measurable business impact.

  • Beyond the Screen

Vue.ai, Bosch and Walmart Global Tech look at Physical AI, robotics, computer vision and autonomous systems and explore what happens when intelligence moves into the real world.

For one day in Bengaluru, Converge is bringing exciting voices across technology, research and industry into the same room. Come ready to compare notes, challenge assumptions and leave with new ideas about what it takes to build AI that works in the real world.
