Frequently Asked Questions

What is the We Art Walmart Program?

The We Art Walmart Program (“Program”) finds and recognizes the hidden talents and creativity of our associates. This Program allows currently employed associates in good standing to submit original artworks in varying mediums and scale for display in and around Northwest Arkansas and Walmart’s new Home Office campus. Each Program cycle will host an art competition based on different themes and mediums, some of which relate to Walmart’s core principles, while others will be left open for individual interpretation. Accordingly, each Program cycle, these FAQs will be updated to reflect the current art competition and theme.  The Program’s first art competition is a panoramic photo contest, which is described in more detail below.

Why did Walmart create this program?

Art installations are common on corporate campuses. We know it’s our associates who make the difference and this Program is one of the many ways we can celebrate that fact and bring the incredible spirit of our diverse associates into the halls and grounds of our new campus. This is a chance for associates to connect with other associates around the world in a fun and creative way. The We Art Walmart Program helps us all celebrate and appreciate each other for the rich artistic talents that may be hidden in our associates across the globe.

Does the photo have to have a Walmart-based theme or focus?

No. For the panoramic photo challenge, we want to see the towns, cities, and communities our associates call home. What makes your community, town, or city unique? Is it a unique tradition or festival? Natural beauty or rows of crops? Sprawling city skyline or interesting buildings? Whatever makes your community, town, or city stand out, we want to see!

What if I don’t have a digital camera to take pictures?

A cell phone camera has just as much potential to capture an amazing picture. If you, a friend, or family member has a cellphone with a camera, you can ask use that to capture the image you had in mind for your submission.

What happens if I’m selected as a winner for the We Art Walmart Program?

Associates will not be compensated to plan, create art, take photos, record, or submit their entries for the We Art Walmart Program or subsequent cycles, nor should they plan, take photos, record, or submit their entries while on the clock. Additionally, no cash prize is awarded to the winners.

Associates who are announced as winners for this Contest will have their Photo displayed on Walmart’s new Home Office campus, have their Photo featured at Associate’s Week, and potentially be flown out to Northwest Arkansas to receive recognition and see their artworks displayed.

What region am I in?

For all current and future art submission cycles of the We Art Walmart Program, we will select a specified number of winners out of all entries rather than selecting a few winners by a specific region. However, when you submit your entry, we will need to know where you are located.

The region in which you’re placed for the purposes of the Program is defined by where you are physically located and working. Walmart’s four regions are:

  • EMEA: Canada, Africa, and United Arab Emirates
  • Latin America: Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua
  • Asia: Bangladesh. China (including Hong Kong), India, and Pakistan
  • United States: Stores, clubs, distribution centers, supply chain, technology, and Home Office (includes Global Sourcing)

Please note that basic edits are permitted and expected, and disclosure for these edits is not necessary. Advanced editing is permitted but should be disclosed. Any undisclosed advances edits could lead to a lowered ranking at a judge’s discretion.

Who is serving on each judging panel?

All judging panels will be comprised of either Walmart associates and leaders in various divisions and departments and experts in the art field. While we have not announced the Walmart associates and leaders serving on our judging panels, we plan on having representation from multiple markets, divisions, and departments in both panels.

If I’m selected as a winner, what will I get?

Contest winners from this photo challenge will be highlighted at some point in or around Walmart’s New Home Office Campus and/or hosted online in a virtual art gallery that will house the winning photos from this challenge in addition to winners in coming future phases of the We Art Walmart Program.
